A Movement, Not A Moment

We stand for the liberation of the people.

Saratoga Black Lives Matter works to empower and improve the material conditions of our community. We push the boundaries to dismantle the white supremacist societal structures in the United States for the benefit of the people.

Through advocacy, education, and community engagement, Saratoga BLM strives to amplify the voices of Black people, address historical and ongoing inequalities, and promote social, economic, and political equity.

Justice for Darryl Mount

On August 31, 2013 Darryl Mount was followed on foot by multiple Saratoga Springs police officers. This encounter led to severe injuries that resulted in him falling in a coma and left him paralyzed, he died a year later. The community is still fighting for answers about what really happened that night.

As an organization, we believe that in order to improve conditions in our communities, there must be a radical transformation in how the United States chooses to address the issues we face.

Support for Our Community

Education happens within the context of a larger community. Our approach extends beyond the political system to help ensure our community has the necessary tools to support to one another through hardship and success.

“For once, black people are going to use the words they want to use, not just the words whites want to hear. And they will do this no matter how often the press tries to stop the use of the slogan by equating it with racism or separatism.”
